STYLED BY MY DAUGHTER

Elle has been watching me style models, homes and myself since she was born. Starting at the age of three she has been telling she wants to be a makeup artist and stylist (and a police officer). So, with the help of Vince Camuto, I surprised Elle with a chance to style me head to toe. I, of course, gave her a bit of guidance, and she sure stretched my comfort zone.

There were so many beautiful things for Elle to choose from. It was like a kid in a candy store (like mother like daughter). I don't know if it was the warm weather or purely her love of swimming that made her choose a bathing suit for me, but that's what she really wanted me to wear. She thought a bikini would be best, and so then I had to explain that one pieces were my favorite (a.k.a. I'm not ready to strut my stuff in front of the world in a bikini).

Elle selected a white one piece. I would have gone for the black or navy, but she is the style expert. I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked white. It makes me look more tan, and now I have a great suit for the summertime. It can be worn multiple ways by detaching the strap or using the center halter strap.

I did encourage her to pick out these striped linen pants though. I needed something to cover my backside. I'm not quite ready to reveal all to y'all. Besides, these pants are too cute to pass up.

Elle picked out a tassel necklace, gold hoop earrings, sunglasses (blue for Elsa), a scarf and a hat. When it came time to pick out shoes she went straight for high heels (oh boy). I rarely wear heels and my size 11 feet have a hard time finding ones that fit. Not to mention the combo of high heels and a swimsuit isn't really the message I want to send out at 33 years old. So, I gently steered her in the direction of flats and she thought the tassels on these thong sandals were fun. I love them too.

When it came time to put it all together I thought she was going to ask for me to wear every accessory. She surprised me though. She really wanted me to wear the necklace and the scarf. Unfortunately, the headscarf wouldn't stay on because she doesn't know how to tie anything quite yet. But she sure was proud of picking out my bathing suit and accessories.

I also took the opportunity to style the pieces Elle selected my own way. I think she was on to something with the bathing suit. When i wear it with pants it reminds me of a trendy bodysuit. You can easily throw an off-the-shoulder top on over it and go about your day. It's the perfect transitional look for the beach.

I styled mine with some earrings and sunglasses. Less is more they say, well, unless you're a four year old girl. Then more is more. ;) To get this whole head to toe look be sure to shop the post below.

SPRING COMFORT

Comfort is what I seek in every expression of my personal style whether it's in fashion, home decor or beauty. To me, feeling comfortable allows me to be myself, and being authentically me is my aim.

LILLA|P is a brand that is exudes comfort, simplicity and style, and, therefore, is a brand this is true to my style. Every piece of clothing on their site is well-made. Their collections are all about building on a foundation of quality basics, and then adding your own twist from there.

These chambray pants had my name written all over them. I love that they are cropped because, well, everything is cropped on my legs. I don't have to worry about the length being just right. They have a drawstring for comfort, but the flat front has a zipper and structure so that you avoid the bagging waist appearance.

Some days I wear these pants with a basic white t-shirt and other days I pair it was a breezy trapeze top like this similar one from Nordstrom Rack. I've worn cork wedges with these pants, but I typically opt for flat sandals like my trusty metallic ones with an ankle wrap (similar ones here).  If you're looking for quality basics that are comfortable and well-made look no further than LILLA P.

WARM-WEATHER STYLES FOR KIDS

This post is sponsored by Bloomingdales.

Temperatures are rising here in Arizona. Our spring is almost over and summer is on the horizon with 90 degree temps already on record. That means it's time to shop for warm-weather clothes for the kids. I wish I had rapid growth spurts as an excuse to update my own wardrobe, but it's a blast to shop for them too, especially when Bloomingdale's has the cutest pieces for my littles.

I found this adorable outfit for Elle by Splendid online and it fits like it's made for her. I love that the top and bottom match, but that you can also wear the pieces as separates. It makes your dollars go farther for sure. Denim is my go-to for kid's clothes because it will always coordinate with any shoes, tops or bottoms. It's also machine washable, which is a necessity for mom life.

Sandals are, of course, the summer shoe of choice. In particular, these Steve Madden colorful ones with jewels and fringe look and feel like summer. We snagged them right away, and they are her favorite shoes to date.

Levi, on the other hand, has some hand-me-down items from friends, so I filled in some of his spring/summer wardrobe gaps by finding him light colored denim and white sneakers. Both are classic, modern wardrobe staples for boys of all ages. The pants, in particular, are Bardot Junior, and will be something he can wear year round (or at least until he grows out of them). I love that they came with suspenders and an adjustable waistband.

Finding t-shirts with prints on them that are cute is hard, but this little t from Sovereign Code was exceptionally adorable for summer. It has little sailboats and whales on it (melt my heart).

Levi is running around everywhere these days. He is so fast I can barely keep up. This outfit sure can, and it has all of the style to boot.

I don't know about you, but our summer days consist of a lot of swimming and trips to ice cream shops. One of our favorite places to go when it heats up is Paleta's Betty where they serve popsicles of all different flavors. If you ever have a chance to go give the arroz con leche a try. OMG! You won't be sorry.

PINTEREST LOOK FOR LESS

Today we're breaking down this pin, showcasing the cutest spring outfit featured on Luella & June. If you've been keeping up my with recent blog posts, you've seen I'm quite the fan of off-the-shoulder tops. I especially love this one with it's knotted sleeves (another trend I've talked about recently) and blue spring hue. Also, how amazing does this outfit look against that bright orange door? The orangey yellow earrings are the perfect final touch with the blue blouse, as they're contrasting colors. Get this whole look below for just $105. Talk about a deal!

EASY BREEZY

Every woman needs a dress that you can throw on and you instantly feel beautiful. During the fall and winter little black dresses do the trick, but in the spring and summer something bright and airy is what I gravitate toward.

Rebecca Taylor always makes me feel so pretty. She designs feminine and fashionable clothes that always fit me well. Neiman Marcus carries her designs, and anytime I'm in that store I will run straight to the CUSP section and shop her clothes.

I'm still in my post-partum body phase, so loose dresses are best for me. I like designs that cut in at the shoulders because it balances my chest and mid-section. The midi length is great for my mom lifestyle where I'm always playing on the floor.

I also love that I can wear a fancy dress like this one and then pair it with some simple Old Navy sandals. I've never been one to wear head to toe designer, but I do love having special pieces in my closet that are quality and feel special.
