HOW TO WEAR PRINTED PANTS

Styling prints can be hard. In fact, just finding a print that you really like can be a challenge. So many of my personal styling clients have said this to me at one point or another, so I thought I would show you how I style my printed pants.

The trick to prints is to keep things simple. Everyone needs to have the basics in their closet to rely on for the moment you find an amazing pair of pants or a skirt. The basics you need are:

  • White, gray and black v-neck t-shirts
  • White, gray and black scoop-neck t-shirts
  • Chambray, white, gray and black button down shirt
  • Black, gray and denim jackets/blazers/cardigan
  • Black and dark denim jeans
  • Black pencil skirt
  • Black simple dress

If you have these things you really can't go wrong when styling your printed skirts or pants. Here's what it looks like to simply add a denim jacket over your t-shirt.

It totally changes the look and feel of the outfit doesn't it? In Arizona it's hard for me to justify wearing a jacket now that the temps have climbed to the 90's, but I sure love how classic they are. This one is from Goldies and is only $52.

Here is what it looks like to opt for a chambray shirt. It's just as simple as a t-shirt, but the collar adds a little more sophistication.

Get the whole look here: Gray t-shirt, patterned pants, denim jacket, gold necklace and chambray shirt.

Kari & Charlie on Martha Stewart Weddings

Kari and Charlie have to be one of the most special couples I have ever worked with in my years of styling. Their love story is one for the history books, and I am so honored that I got to be a part of planning their special day. martha-stewart-wedding-gina-meola-208

Kari found me online a couple of years ago and I was able to style her and Charlie for their engagement photos with Gina Meola (see here). Fast forward to the most gorgeous backyard wedding I have ever seen...It was so beautiful that Martha Stewart Weddings has featured it this week (check it out here).

Kari and Charlie love the ocean. They love it so much they had their engagement photos shot in San Diego. So, they wanted to combine their love of the sea and their love of Arizona and create - a "deserted ocean" theme for their wedding. Blush, mint, tan, gray and pale blue made up the beautiful color palette.

You have GOT to go on over to see all of the details that Gina photographed, the florals, the decor....You can also check out some great images on Gina's blog.

Kari already knew she wanted a blush gown for her wedding dress. Excellent choice! She chose nude Jimmy Choos for her shoes. You just can't go wrong there.  Her sisters were her bridesmaids, and we chose mint as their color to wear. The chiffon fabric was ideal because it added a softness and was also more breathable than taffeta or satin.

I'm so happy for Kari and Charlie, and I seriously could write an essay about how special their wedding means to me. Having their big day and their love featured on Martha Stewart is just icing on the cake.

Jenny & Jesse Styled

Over the past couple of years I've looked forward to fall not only because of the cooler weather, but because that I get to style love birds for their engagement sessions almost every week. I had the pleasure of working with Jenny and Jesse, clients of Gina Meola's, for their photo session last month. They were dream clients who flew all of the way from San Francisco to Scottsdale to have their love captured among the gorgeous desert. After a VERY successful shopping trip with Jenny we found not one, not two, but THREE outfits for her to wear. That's my kind of client right there - a gal that loves to show off her style.

Check out some photos of Jenny and Jesse below, and make sure to head on over to Gina Meola's blog to see more.

Pinterest & Styling

Hello! Hello! You may or may not have notice a long absence from blogging. I know I certainly have. Over the last month or two I've been working on a site/blog redesign. I can't wait to share it with you. Above you'll find a sneak peek. Waterfall Creative has been so awesome in helping me with this process. I'm hoping the launch will happen by next month. EEK! But in other news, I'm still pin, pin, pinning away and styling. I had another appearance on channel 3 not too long ago sharing some quick beauty tips for jet setters and women on the go (click here to see the video and read the article). I brought along Stephanie Neiheisel for some makeup artist expertise. I adore that girl!

I'm still styling away too! I have some projects that will be coming out in due time. If you follow me on Instagram you'll get some behind the scenes looks into my styling and personal world. I really want to stress that I'm still meeting with clients too. Personal styling is the heart and soul of AVE Styles. Even though my success on Pinterest seems to get the most attention via social media I want you all to know that my heart is still devoted to making the sometimes complicated world of fashion simple for men and women.

Ryan, Elle and I also had a chance to take our first family vacation to the east coast. It was so great to take Elle on her first plane ride, show her the ocean for the first time and have her meet all of my extended family. Motherhood is so sweet, and I am so thankful to spend my days raising a daughter and being the wife of an incredible man.

Stay tuned for fashion related posts. =)

Krystal & Chris Styled

Stripes, plaid and love. Three of my favorite things. I'm so happy to share lovely engagement photos by Gina Meola of a beautiful couple that will be getting married this summer - Chris and Krystal. downtown-engagement91

Chris was willing to wear whatever we asked him to. I LOVE those clients. Mwahahahaaa! He has a bit of country in him, so a colorful plaid shirt and jeans was the perfect choice. But to dress him up a bit we added a gray vest.

Krystal likes classic with a touch of tomboy. Stripes, chambray and a pop of color were the ticket to success.
